According to reports, the Federal High Court in Abuja has upheld Julius Abure’s dismissal as the Labour Party’s (LP) national chairman.
Additionally, the Court mandated that the National Caretaker Committee, chaired by Senator Nenadi Usman, be acknowledged by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the legitimate leadership of the party.
Human rights attorney Inibehe Effiong revealed the development in a post on X, claiming to have been present at the Federal High Court when the ruling in a similar case was handed down.
According to Effiong, Justice Lifu’s ruling on Wednesday confirmed that Abure’s term had ended in accordance with a previous Supreme Court ruling and upheld the Nenadi Usman-led committee as the only legitimate and authorized leadership of the Labour Party.
As a result, the court ordered INEC to accept Nenadi Usman as the party’s leader right away.
He wrote: “I have a matter before the Federal High Court in Abuja right now. I listened to the verdict in another instance.
The National Caretaker Committee, led by Senator Nnadi Esther Usman, has been confirmed by Honorable Justice Lifu as the sole legitimate and legitimate leadership of the Labour Party.
According to the Supreme Court’s ruling, Julius Abure’s term had already ended, the judge reiterated.
“INEC was directed by the judge to immediately recognize Nnadi Usman.”
