Victor Osimhen has been ruled out of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matchday eight encounter against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, DAILY POST reports.
The Galatasaray striker was forced off injured in the first half of the Super Eagles 1-0 victory over the Amavubi of Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Saturday.
The 26-year-old was replaced by Cyriel Dessers.
Head coach, Eric Chelle confirmed after the game that Osimhen will be assessed before his team’s departure to South Africa.
According to information released by Super Eagles media officer, Promise Efoghe, Osimhen had discomfort on his chin when he woke up on Sunday morning , and will not be part of the squad to South Africa.
He is now expected to return to his club in Turkey for further treatment on the injury.
Nigeria will take on South Africa at the Toyota Stadium, Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
