Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has urged the party to stay together following the primary election.
In an appearance with Arise Television’s “Morning Show” on Friday, Rhodes-Vivour made this request.
He claims that the ADC currently has roughly two million registered members and that the party leadership is working to raise that figure.
The former Labour Party candidate for governor of Lagos State added that the ADC will not overlook the fact that various party factions with fervent supporters are vying for the presidential nomination.
He claims that as a party, they need to control their emotions and help people see the wider picture.
“I will not minimize the method by which a candidate for president will be chosen. Indeed, there are a lot of people who fervently support their cause.
“They are not fervently supporting you just because you are giving them money.” And we must handle that as a party. We must control those feelings with the pragmatism of politics.
“This comes with the messaging, not only from the party itself but also from leading candidates, to let people see the bigger picture because it is pointless to complain about a reality in the country and you just threw the baby out of the bath water if your candidate loses.”
Because of what transpired in the previous elections, everyone needs to unify as an opposition. Thus, that is the message that will be conveyed to everyone,” he stated.
