There won’t be any opposition to his party in Plateau State by the general elections in 2027, according to Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
The governor made the statement in Jos on Tuesday after Rufus Bature was elected as the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman.
Bature and the other members of the state executive committee were understood to have formed a consensus.
Mutfwang expressed confidence that the party would continue to rule the Plateau before the 2027 elections in a statement made following the exercise.
By God’s grace, we shall only run against each other in this election in 2027. In Plateau, there won’t be any opposition, the governor declared.
The state’s citizens have continued to show faith in the party’s leadership and policies, he continued.
“I think the people of Plateau have faith in us and will stick with us because they understand that we are acting in their best interests.” The state’s citizens will benefit from the opportunity that has been provided to us. “Now is the moment to unite the Plateau,” he declared.
Demands for Harmony and Peace
The governor emphasized the importance of harmony, tolerance, and reconciliation inside the party, characterizing the APC as a family whose internal conflicts must not jeopardize its common goals.
He acknowledged that some issues still needed to be addressed, but he reassured members that all unresolved matters would be resolved peacefully in the party’s best interests.
In addition to congratulating Bature and the other state executive committee members, he urged them to be devoted to the party, the President, and the Plateau State people.
A one-month statewide recruitment drive was also announced by Mutfwang, with each registered member being tasked with recruiting ten or more new members.
“As party evangelists, it is your responsibility to reach every corner of the state and convince more people to join us.” He claimed that a larger and more powerful party would better serve Plateau State’s interests.
He also urged members to support the party’s e-membership registration program, pointing out that both a strong party structure and successful grassroots mobilization are necessary for electoral victory.
In his acceptance speech, Bature expressed gratitude to delegates and party officials for their faith in him and his group.
He promised to work hard to live up to the expectations of party members throughout the state, describing his reelection as both an honor and a responsibility.
Bature also listed accomplishments during his prior term, such as the election of 325 council members on the APC platform, three senators, 23 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives, and 17 chairman of local governments.
In order to guarantee accountability and long-term electoral success in the state, he gave members the assurance that the party leadership will continue to offer helpful supervision and assistance.
