It is the hope of Senate President Godswill Akpabio that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will effectively retake Kano State in the general elections of 2027.
Akpabio reportedly said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would win if key party leaders led the campaign, including Senator Basheer Lado, Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President, and Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the APC.
The APC is well-positioned for the next elections, Akpabio said in a statement on Thursday. “We are confident that with Senator Barau, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and your strategic self, Kano is already in the kitty of APC, ahead of 2027.”
While serving as President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Senate affairs, Senator Lado allegedly leaked sensitive information between the Senate and the government. Akpabio has addressed current reports about this.
He vehemently refuted these accusations, calling Lado’s performance ideal.
Let me say for the record that there hasn’t been a single leak of confidential communications between the Senate and the Presidency since Senator Lado took over as President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on National Assembly (Senate Matters),” Akpabio said.
“There hasn’t been a single leak incidence. We refer to that as the right to know in the context of government. It goes without saying that national security suffers when government business is conducted through information leaks on social media and newspaper pages.

Acknowledging Lado’s role in improving the coordination between the legislative and executive branches, Akpabio continued by thanking him for enabling easy communication between them.
“Over the past eight months, you have executed your duties in office in a way that has never been seen before, strengthening and rewarding the collaboration between the legislative and executive branches for the benefit of all,” Akpabio continued.
According to Senator Lado’s statement,
expressing appreciation for Akpabio’s leadership and emphasizing how important the Senate President is to the President’s goals.
