Former APC national vice chairman (North West), Salihu Moh Lukman, has written to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, pleading with him to rally previous Nigerian leaders in order to form a strong political alliance.

Lukman wrote that he was concerned about some opposition leaders’ reluctance to unite under a common political platform because of their political aspirations, including three former governors.

This has weakened earlier attempts to develop a strong alternative to the APC, according to Lukman, a former Director General of the APC’s Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF).

In addition to mentioning other former Nigerian leaders like Muhammadu Buhari, Goodluck Jonathan, Ibrahim Babangida, General Yakubu Gowon, and General Abdulsalami Abubakar, the letter was addressed to Obasanjo and highlighted the role that previous leaders have played in forming the country’s current situation.

“Without playing games of blame, whether the leaders of this country today are created by God or Satan, they are the offspring of all of you, both individually and collectively,” Lukman said.

As a persistent problem that exacerbates Nigeria’s socio-economic and political difficulties, he denounced the historical trend of influencing political successions.

Lukman claims that the anointing of successors has exacerbated the country’s problems and led to the rise of “Satanic leaders.”

In order to create a party that can develop “Godly” leadership, Lukman called for a political reorientation.

He was frustrated by some opposition leaders’ unwillingness to work together and accused them of putting their own goals before of the country’s overall progress.

According to Lukman, “some opposition leaders are already opposing efforts to create a unified political platform largely because of their subsidiary ambitions to contest elections.”

“Whether Nigeria can produce leaders with Godly genotypes and not Satanic genotypes depends on whether we can re-engineer our politics to produce at least one political party with potential to produce leaders with Godly genotypes,” the letter said in part.

Some opposition figures are already opposing attempts to create a unified political platform, primarily due to their side goals of running for office. As a result of these side goals, some people are already engaging in the traditional hegemonic games of cheerleaders or assembly loyalists.

They are all three former state governors. One of the heritage parties that joined together to establish the APC also has a group connected to it. For a hypothetical party that the opposition leaders will form, this organization is already creating a so-called leadership lineup.

They have already selected the so-called candidates for governor in a number of states. Given this perspective, it stands to reason that they have already chosen their presidential candidate.
