Prior to the general elections in 2027, Zamfara State’s Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, has reiterated its dedication to maintaining the greatest standards of honesty, openness, and justice.
Dr. Mahmud Isah, the Zamfara Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), assured stakeholders that the state’s second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) campaign would resume.
Isah emphasized that INEC, as an electoral umpire, cannot provide a credible process on its own and that the success of the CVR exercise and upcoming elections depended on the combined efforts of all stakeholders.
“To ensure a credible election in 2027, I urge all stakeholders to work together with the commission,” he declared.
The REC emphasized that in order to take part in electoral activities, all eligible Nigerians have a civic duty to register with INEC and receive their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
He said that the commission has authorized the CVR’s nationwide restart, with online pre-registration ongoing and in-person registration at INEC local government offices set to start on January 5, 2026.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) were among the political parties represented at the meeting, along with the Emirs of Gusau and Maru.
Members of security agencies, media organizations, IPAC, and the Inter-Party Advisory Council were also in attendance.
