The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) is still a powerful force in Nigerian politics, according to Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former presidential contender.
He brushed off critics who predicted the party would lose the 2027 election, saying they were only living in delusion.
This was said by the former Kano governor in an interview with BBC Hausa as part of his ongoing birthday festivities.
He reiterated his conviction that, by 2027, the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya movement would continue to dominate Nigerian politics, especially in the North.
The former governor of Kano state said he was confident that the 2027 general elections would be more transparent than previous ones when questioned if there would be any electoral malpractice.
He claimed that unlike the previous elections, in which money played a major role, the 2027 election would be different.
“Those who are talking about beating us in 2027 are living in denial,” he remarked. Young people are now more politically conscious, therefore things have changed.
“The upcoming election won’t be like past ones where everything was decided by money. People are increasingly more aware.
Because our movement is focused on helping others and is founded on service, we are sure that we will succeed. At the polls, those who betrayed the cause will be held accountable for their conduct.
