Former All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy National Publicity Secretary Timi Frank has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu intends to move Nigeria’s capital from Abuja to Lagos if he is re-elected in 2027.
In a statement on Monday, Frank revealed this accusation.
The former leader of the APC attacked Tinubu’s administration for what he called a “Lagos-centric agenda.”
He claimed that it is now evident to him that the President is working to marginalize other areas.
Frank claims that Tinubu’s administration makes significant decisions that are intended to help Lagos State.
Frank stated, “It is now evident that the President’s long-term plan is to concentrate political and economic power in Lagos if given another term in office.”
Frank also asserted that Tinubu’s federal appointments and development programs have been predominantly biased, cautioning that this tendency threatens national cohesion.
He declared, “We do not want a president who is biased.”
Where do Tinubu’s Memorandums of Understanding relate to industrial growth in the Southeast, oil and gas development in the South-South, and agriculture and livestock production in the North? Not one!
Second, this administration has divided Nigeria and its citizens along ethnic and regional lines more than any other president in the nation’s history.
It is really concerning that Nigerians are becoming more and more divided and alienated.
“It appears to be a deliberate strategy to impoverish certain regions, especially the North, South, and Southeast, so that citizens are economically weakened ahead of the 2027 election cycle,” Frank stated.
