According to the Ogun State police command, two security guards have been taken into custody for reportedly lighting a 44-year-old man named Basiru Aliu on fire in Agura Sabo, Sagamu, the state’s metropolitan region.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, provided this information in a statement that was acquired on Wednesday.
The victim was assisting his boss in moving his possessions from his old home to a new one in Ijokun when the suspects, Segun Sodiya and Segun Abatan, thought he was a thief, according to the statement.
The man was brutally assaulted by the security personnel, who also allegedly lit him on fire, according to Odutola.
She revealed that Fatai Ifekoya, the victim’s supervisor, had informed the command about the occurrence.
At around 7 a.m. on Monday, Aliu was allegedly assisting his boss, Fatai Ifekoya, in moving possessions from his old home to a new location in Ijokun, according to Odutola.

Security officers Sodiya and Abatan, who worked for one of the residents, Kingsley Nwabueze, allegedly brutally beat Aliu when he was doing the assignment early on Monday.
“The two allegedly thought Aliu was attempting to steal the things he was carrying for his employer, so they poured a flammable substance on him and set him on fire,” she claimed.
While stating that the suspects had been taken into custody and would be charged with attempted murder, Odutola urged residents to call the police instead of resorting to violence in order to report suspicious activities.
