“The recent wave of defections from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is an expression of patriotism and confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership,” said Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Akpabio reportedly made this statement on Wednesday evening during a meeting with Tinubu at the State House in Abuja with Senators Kaila Samaila of Bauchi North and Agom Jarigbe of Cross River North.

Recently, both MPs joined the APC after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The senators’ choice to join the APC was motivated by President Tinubu’s economic reforms and dedication to national development, Akpabio told State House media following the meeting.

“They (Samaila and Jaribe) are Mr. President’s supporters and his children,” he stated. All political parties are descended from the president, who is also the father of the country.

Curiously, however, they joined the Federal Republic of Nigeria Senate on different political platforms, but they felt it was more convenient to join in order to build Nigeria because of the President’s policies, which have improved the country’s economic situation, especially in terms of generating revenue.

“Patrionism is the only thing present. What matters to them is not which political party is in power, but rather who can manage Nigeria, make it better, and provide for the needs of Nigerians.

Jarigbe added that he was convinced Tinubu was doing a good job, which is what motivated him to defect.

The congressman says that joining forces with Tinubu and the APC is an obvious way for him to support the president and his policies that are reorienting the nation.

As he put it, “I joined the APC because I want to come in and support the president in delivering the dividends of democracy to our people, and he is doing really well.”
