In the search and rescue effort for the schoolgirls kidnapped from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga in the Danko/Wasagu region of Kebbi State, troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have been instructed by Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu to “leave no stone unturned.”
It had previously stated that in a shocking nighttime raid on Monday, gunmen killed Hassan Yakubu Makuku, the school’s vice principal, before kidnapping 25 kids.
Shaibu gave military orders to step up daytime and nighttime operations in Kebbi until all kidnapped students were located.
He said, “We have to locate these kids.”
Zagazola Makama, the army chief, traveled to the state with a group of major staff officers from Army Headquarters, according to a counter-insurgency publication.
Before speaking to soldiers who had already been deployed for the rescue attempt, he had an operational conference with frontline commanders.
Officers were reminded by Shaibu that resolve and prompt action were essential.
“You have to keep fighting day and night,” he continued.
“You have to use intelligence to carry out intelligence-based missions, commanders. Soft targets are now a common target for bandits. They won’t visit a place if they are aware that you are there. And you can beat them if they come up against you, right?
The COAS emphasized the importance of reacting quickly to intelligence.

Shaibu reportedly had meetings with local hunters and vigilantes who were supporting the security forces.
He referred to them as “indispensable partners” and stated that successful counter-banditry operations depended on their familiarity with the environment.

COAS Visits School Officials and Community Leaders
The army leader had earlier visited Rabi Musa Magaji, the principal of GGCSS Maga, and Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, the traditional ruler of Danko, with condolences.
He reassured them of the military’s unwavering determination to save the girls and bring peace back to the neighborhood.
“We’re really dedicated. We will not give up. We are using all available resources to make sure these kids return home securely because their safety is a national priority,” Shaibu stated.
