The Local Government Service Commission Board of Cross River State has been dissolved by an order issued by Governor Bassey Otu.
He clarified in a statement issued on Tuesday that the decision was made in response to allegations of mismanagement and abuse of office in the commission’s most recent hiring process.
“My dear people of Cross River State, I would like to inform you that I have dissolved the Board of the Local Government Service Commission,” he said. This is due to the fact that we found significant instances of office misuse and dishonesty throughout the most recent hiring process.
Governor Otu described the irregularities as unjust and undesirable, saying that such behavior erodes public trust in the government and undermines true governance.
“What transpired was unjust and incorrect. Your faith in us was betrayed.
“The previously halted recruitment process will continue to be postponed.
Otu declared, “We will start it again properly, clean, open, and based on merit, so that only qualified people get the jobs.”
He also gave the people his word that he would not put up with any kind of corruption in the government or among public servants, pointing out that such actions impede the progress of the state.
“We will continue to take strong steps to make our institutions honest and trustworthy,” he continued.
Otu declared, “Together, we will build a better Cross River State where things are done the right way.”
