Congressman Riley Moore of the United States has threatened to hold the Nigerian government accountable for any harm done to Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a clergyman from Plateau State, because of his efforts exposing alleged anti-Christian genocide.
Moore reportedly posted the warning on his 𝕏 account a few hours after the priest claimed to have received threats from President Bola Tinubu’s supporters regarding his videos showing mass burials and killings of Christians in Plateau State.
Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo said he was intimidated because of his online revelations in a video message that was uploaded to his Facebook page on November 21.
In the video, Dachomo stated, “They are threatening and warning me to stop exposing President Bola Tinubu’s government over the ongoing killings of Christians by Fulani terrorists.”
Additionally, he said that Tinubu administration officials visited him and issued warnings as a result of his comments.
Dachomo added in the message, “Their silence endangers Christians all over Nigeria.”
Speaking on the House floor, Congressman Moore responded to the pastor’s accusations by bringing up a different occurrence in Plateau State.
Rep. Moore stated, “I do want to highlight a case that just happened in the Plateau State.”
He explained how, before lives were lost, Nigerian officials openly denied a pastor’s earlier warning.
Advocacy groups keeping an eye on the situation claim that shortly after Rev. Dachomo’s video was released, his Facebook and Instagram sites were removed separately.
The cleric’s contacts were then informed that Meta would not permit him to publish his videos, citing purported national security threats associated with his posts.
Concerned for Rev. Dachomo’s safety, Moore issued a warning that anybody responsible for any threat or injury will face diplomatic consequences.
Moore reiterated the US position on the issue, saying, “The US will hold the Nigerian government responsible if anything should happen to the Pastor.”
