Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president of Nigeria, stated on Friday that Nigerians are free to go for assistance elsewhere if they believe their country is failing to protect them.
He added, “You can take them out,” adding that no one should commit a crime and evade prosecution in this day and age of technology.
Speaking during the Plateau Unity Christmas and Praise Festival, which is taking place at the Ten Commandments Prayer Altar in Dwei-Du, Jos South LGA of Plateau State, Obasanjo made this statement.
“I think that is nonsensical,” he replied. They’re killing us. No matter what religion you practice, where you’re from, or what you do for a living, Nigerians are being slain, and our government doesn’t seem to be able to stop it.
“We belong to the global community. We have the right to ask the world community to help us if our government is unable to. The government has an obligation to take action if we are being killed.
“We should demand that the government fulfill its obligations at every level. At all levels and in all spheres of life, we should demand that our leaders fulfill their obligations,” he insisted.
“In these days of technology, nobody should be hiding anywhere after he has committed a crime that cannot be seen with the present day satellite,” he said.
Obasanjo recalled his presidency, saying, “I knew we had the capacity to pick up anybody in Nigeria before I left government.” We lacked the ability to take up such a criminal without traveling by air or land once we had identified and located him. Drones are now at our disposal. You are able to remove them. Why don’t we do that?
“What is the purpose of our negotiation? And the government disputes after paying these criminals!
“We should urge our government to take the necessary actions to prevent the murder of Nigerians.
“We want to kill Nigerians because we are sick of being killed, regardless of whether they are Christians, Muslims, or pagans. Every Nigerian’s life matters.” “It ought to end,” he emphasized.
