Under the auspices of the Ijumu Voters Forum, or IYF, a grassroots Kogi State voter forum has warned former Senator Dino Melaye to stop criticizing state officials.
This came after the former lawmaker’s recent outburst against certain federal political office holders.
The group claims that Melaye has too little of an impact on Kogi West residents’ lives to be morally justified in criticizing others.
The former senator lacks the moral authority and public record necessary to criticize other public office holders, according to a statement issued by the Kogi West grassroots voters’ forum’s coordinator, Hon. Eleta Kelvin Oluseyi, on Monday.
The forum claims that Melaye’s years in public office were characterized by controversy rather than service, drama rather than progress, and noise rather than results.
According to the statement, “his record falls short of what the people of Kogi West deserved because leadership is measured by impact.”
Melaye gained more notoriety for political disputes and public antics than for his significant achievements to his constituency.
“The former senator became a spectacle rather than a statesman after earning national nicknames.”
