In response to a directive from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Delta State Government has encouraged suitably qualified young people in the state, both male and female, to take advantage of the current recruitment of constables into the Nigeria Police Force.
The call was made in a statement released on behalf of the state government by Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq., Director-General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, who revealed that the Police Service Commission (PSC) has started accepting applications for police constable positions across the country.
The statement said that qualified Nigerians are welcome to apply, with eligible young people from Delta State being given special consideration.
The official Nigeria Police recruiting portal at https://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng is where applications may be submitted online for free.
According to Dr. Oghenesivbe, the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services of the Delta State Government is organizing and urging all eligible state residents to apply as soon as possible.
Throughout the hiring process, the committee is also required to offer applicants the appropriate direction and support.
He stated that the exercise is in line with Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, JP’s job and wealth development plan, which aims to increase young employment opportunities and bolster national security.
From December 15, 2025, until January 25, 2026, the recruitment portal will be open.
Medical assistants, drivers, mechanics, auto electricians, forensic assistants, robotics and drone operators, EOD-CBRN operatives, dog handlers, horse riders, marine and boat technicians, artisans, information technology personnel, communication specialists, band men, and suppliers of musical equipment are just a few of the specialized jobs that are covered by the exercise.
Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 25 for general duty positions, and they cannot be older than 28 for specialist posts.
Candidates for general duty must have completed at least five credits in GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE, NECO, or comparable exams in no more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics.
A minimum of three years of experience in their chosen industries, applicable trade test certificates, and at least four credits—including English and math—are required of specialist applicants.
Every applicant must be a citizen of Nigeria by birth, have a working phone number and email account, be of good character, and have no criminal history.
For general duty applicants, additional qualifications include being mentally and physically healthy, submitting two character referees, and meeting the required height and chest dimensions.
During the training period or at the time of entrance, female applicants are not permitted to be pregnant.
As part of the hiring process, “all applicants will undergo physical and medical examinations, aptitude tests, and background checks,” Dr. Oghenesivbe said.
The Delta State Government hopes the recruiting process goes well for all candidates of Delta State heritage.
