Following an interim court decision blocking the action, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has halted the execution of the Tinted Glass Permit regulation countrywide.
Recall that on December 15, 2025, the police said that the Tinted Glass Permit regulation would once again be enforced, starting on January 2, 2026, claiming their obligation to maintain internal security and public safety.
However, the Force revealed that on December 17, 2025, it was served with an interim order in litigation No. HOR/FHR/M/31/2025, which prohibited it from carrying out the enforcement until the substantive litigation was heard and decided or the order was revoked.
The police claimed to have entered presence in the case, made preliminary objections, and formally requested the vacation of the interim order in a statement released on Thursday by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Force Public Relations Officer.
The court has postponed the case until January 20, 2026, for more procedures, according to the statement.
The statement said, “The Nigeria Police Force has put the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit policy on hold nationwide, pending the court’s decision, in strict compliance with the subsisting court order.”
Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police, reiterated the Force’s dedication to upholding the law while fulfilling its constitutional mission.
He declared that in order to handle security issues and safeguard people and property nationwide, the police would keep using legal and intelligence-driven tactics.
In the sake of public order and national security, the Force promised the public that more information and precise instructions will be shared following the court’s ruling.
