The late wife of Ogun State’s first civilian governor, Mrs. Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo, was a selfless and devoted teacher in the public sector, according to former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.
According to Obasanjo, the many of her students who have achieved success in their occupations over the years can be used to gauge the caliber of her contribution.
The former president made this statement in a letter of sympathy that his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, made available to media on Wednesday.
A generation of young people were inspired by the Onabanjo matriarch’s accomplishments and personal lives, according to the letter.
She enjoyed helping younger men and women achieve success in life, according to the letter.
“As a teacher in the public service, she provided selfless and dedicated service, and the quality of her contribution can be judged from the large number of her students who have done well in their respective careers over the years.”

The former president further emphasized that the former First Lady did everything in her power to support her late husband, Chief Victor Olabisi Onabanjo, who served as Ogun State’s first civilian governor from 1979 to 1983.
“She carried out her responsibilities as a teacher and First Lady with integrity, quiet efficiency, generosity, magnanimity, and unwavering love for the people, and her memory will live on in Ogun State and beyond.
