According to Governor Douye Diri, the late Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, would be buried on January 30.
During the 179th State Executive Council meeting at Government House in Yenagoa on Wednesday, Diri revealed this.
The deputy governor, who was sixty years old, reportedly passed away on December 11, 2025.
According to the governor, a four-day funeral program was authorized after consultations by a burial committee led by Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, Secretary to the State Government.
“On January 27, there will be athletic events, and on January 28, there will be a Day of Tributes,” Diri stated.
He noted that the State High Court and Executive Council Chambers would have valedictory sessions on January 29.
The governor stated, “A requiem mass will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Ofoni, on January 30, prior to interment.”
The government, family, and church “are all in agreement on the burial activities of our departed deputy governor,” according to Diri.
