Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State have openly declared their support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Top party figures at the forefront of the endorsement include the Enugu State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye; Senator Kelvin Chukwu of the Enugu East Senatorial District; and the Deputy National Chairman of the APC (South), Chief Emma Enukwu.
The party leaders maintained that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on economic transformation and strengthening governance, has begun to produce visible results nationwide, justifying the call for continuity.
Addressing journalists at his Amurri Ward in Nkanu West Local Government Area after completing his electronic membership revalidation, Senator Chukwu—who recently defected from the Labour Party to the APC—said his decision was guided by the people-focused policies of both President Tinubu and Governor Mbah.
He described Governor Mbah as one of the best-performing governors in the country and urged Enugu residents and Nigerians to reciprocate the leadership efforts of both men by ensuring their re-election. The senator also encouraged citizens to participate fully in the ongoing APC e-registration and revalidation exercise and to secure their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the polls.
Dr. Ben Nwoye, speaking at the event, said the consolidation of key political figures in Amurri community under the APC platform would significantly strengthen the party’s electoral prospects in 2027. He added that Senator Chukwu’s revalidation had dispelled doubts surrounding his defection to the ruling party.
Nwoye further appealed to existing party members to revalidate their membership and urged prospective members to register, stressing that both President Tinubu and Governor Mbah require a second term to build on the gains recorded during their current administrations.
Also speaking, Chief Emma Enukwu highlighted the importance of voter participation and party registration, explaining that the APC’s electronic registration initiative was introduced to modernize party operations in line with global best practices.
He expressed optimism that Enugu State would deliver no fewer than two million votes for the APC in the 2027 elections, a significant improvement on the party’s performance in 2023.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff to Governor Peter Mbah, Barrister Victor Udeh, was formally received into the APC at his Umuabi community in Udi Local Government Area, an event that drew party supporters and well-wishers.
