Afrobeats artist Damini Ogulu, better known by his stage name Burna Boy, has talked candidly about his friendship with the late South African rapper AKA.
According to reports, the pair broke up in 2019 after Burna Boy promised to “deal” with AKA if they ever got together.
The warning follows reports that the South African rapper shared images of hate messages he purportedly received from Nigerian accounts over AFCON quarterfinal match banter, encouraging xenophobic violence against Nigerians in South Africa.
Speaking about the disagreement, Burna Boy has recently disclosed that their conflict was resolved prior to the rapper’s death.
However, Burna Boy lamented that AKA died before they could carry out some of their ideas and collaborations in a posthumous birthday tribute to the late rapper via his Instagram page.
“Happy birthday, Supa Mega,” Burna Boy wrote. Even though we resolved our disagreement using Twitter direct messages that no one was aware of, we never had the opportunity to truly connect and accomplish our goals. Until I see you again, I shall be sorry for it. RIP, Mega, until then.
Recall that on February 10, 2023, AKA was fatally murdered by a gunman outside a Durban eatery.
His murder trial is still going on.
