Governor Charles Soludo has been encouraged by the Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture to resolve the closure of Onitsha Main Market through conversation in the best interests of the populace.
The chamber stated that, in response to the ongoing Monday sit-at-home, Mr. Soludo recently ordered a one-week shutdown of the Onitsha Main Market.

However, Mr. Nwonu pointed out that the chamber was in favor of swift measures to resume legitimate business operations since they felt it was necessary to highlight the serious social and economic repercussions of extended market closures as a kind of punishment.
