Delta Police Commissioner Aina Adesola Tours Ogwashi-Uku and Agbor, Emphasizes Community Policing

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, has continued his familiarization tour of Police formations and key stakeholders across Delta State, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational coordination and deepen community partnership in policing.
On Tuesday, 27th January, 2026, the Commissioner of Police visited the Ogwashi Area Command, where he engaged with relevant stakeholders as well as officers and men of the Area Command.
The tour progressed on Thursday, 29th January, 2026, with a visit to the Agbor Area Command, where the Commissioner of Police met with stakeholders and personnel of the Command, reinforcing the leadership’s commitment to effective and collaborative policing.
In furtherance of the tour, the Commissioner of Police paid courtesy visits to prominent traditional rulers within the Agbor axis, including His Royal Majesty, Dr Benjamin Ikenchukwu Keagborekuzi I, the Dein of Agbor; His Royal Majesty, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor II, OON, the Obi of Owa Kingdom; and His Royal Majesty, the Obi of Umunede.
During the interaction, HRM, Dr Benjamin Ikenchukwu Keagborekuzi I, the Dein of Agbor, described the Nigeria Police Force as the “lifeboat of the nation”, and emphasised the importance of unity, mutual appreciation, and collective responsibility in safeguarding the country. He highlighted challenges relating to police welfare and equipment, underscoring the need for improved support to enable officers to discharge their duties effectively. The monarch also expressed concern over the menace of drug abuse within the Agbor community, describing it as a major security challenge, and urged sustained efforts by both the Police and the community to combat the problem. He further cautioned members of the public against provoking police officers in the lawful execution of their duties, noting that an armed officer on duty may be required to make split-second decisions in potentially dangerous situations.
In his remarks, HRM, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor II, OON, the Obi of Owa Kingdom, stressed that security is a collective responsibility and that community development is largely dependent on the people themselves. He noted that when residents act in unity, drug-related crimes and other security challenges can be effectively tackled and eradicated.
In his response, the Commissioner of Police stated that his policing philosophy is anchored on working closely with the people, noting that members of the community possess critical knowledge of the terrain and social structure of their localities, which is indispensable for effective policing, crime prevention, and sustainable security outcomes. He further reaffirmed the Delta State Command’s unwavering commitment to inclusive, proactive, and community-oriented policing, while calling on residents to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information.
