Governor Adeleke Highlights Critical Role of Education

The governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has emphasized the value of education, pointing out that people who are well-read are more resilient than those who rely on force to survive.

This was said by the governor yesterday when he was the special guest of honor at the founding of Minaret University in Ikirun and the investiture of Prof. Abdullah Abdur-Rahman, the institution’s first vice chairman.

Under his leadership, Osun State is advancing the heritage of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who ensured an engaged populace prepared to oppose oppression, impunity, and lawlessness, according to Adeleke.

“With the Minaret and other upcoming private institutions as well as both existing old colleges and universities, Osun State will continue to advance in scholarship and good governance,” the governor stated, praising the Athemadiyya Muslim community, the institution’s originator. On a local and global level, our sons and daughters will keep the state proud. As the clock of progress continues to run in our favor, Osun State will never regress.

The administration of the late Bola Ige extended the first republic’s reach by providing free education. The new Osun State was founded on that heritage in order to ensure that its citizens are capable and willing to fight against oppression, lawlessness, and impunity.

“Educated people are unaffected by deception; they are aware of the realities of government.” Because of their confirmed assessment, they have facts and are not swayed by bogus news. They dislike anti-people government leaders and admire good leaders. The informed populace evaluates its leaders on a daily basis; they can distinguish between those who are liars and those who are actually working for the states.

In his speech, Azeez Alatoye, the chancellor of Minaret University, stated that the university was founded at a time when Nigeria was facing significant moral, social, and economic difficulties and that it was well-positioned to address these issues through innovative teaching, pertinent research, community involvement, and quality instruction.

With programs in data science, information technology, computer science, cyber security, accounting, economics, business administration, marketing, logistics, and supply chain management, Alatoye claimed the institution has started academic operations.

“Minaret University was conceived not merely as another center of learning, but as a citadel of excellence, firmly anchored on knowledge, discipline, moral uprightness, and service to humanity: values for which the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at is known worldwide,” he said.

The chancellor spoke to the university’s founding students and exhorted them to embrace discipline, strive for greatness, and influence the school’s culture.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdullah Abdur-Rahman, who spoke following his investiture, stated that the university’s goal is to become a world-class tertiary institution for the intellectual and human resource development of sustainable socio-economic development on a regional, national, and international level. He also added, “I envision a university that is entrepreneurial, inclusive, and globally competitive.”

Reiterating his commitment to guiding Minaret University towards excellence, the VC called for collaboration among the university’s administration, faculty, students, and other stakeholders.

“I am aware that a university’s success cannot be determined by a single person. With cooperation, transparent management, and democratic leadership, we are ready to do everything in our power to elevate Minaret University to a position of distinction. Everyone involved—students, faculty, university administration, and others—must work together in harmony.
