Due to the fact that the dates of the 2027 general elections coincide with the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, former presidential adviser Bashir Ahmad has encouraged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reevaluate the original plans.
Elections for the governorship and state assembly are scheduled for March 6, 2027, while the presidential and national assembly elections are scheduled for February 20, 2027, according to the schedule previously issued by INEC.
