In August 2025, Udemezue was suspended after it was alleged that he had posted information on social media about the House’s operations, including member allowances and emoluments.

The politician defended his actions by stating that they were motivated by his pledge to his supporters that, should he be elected, he would maintain an open door policy and provide any necessary accounting of his stewardship, including disclosing his salary.

He was first suspended for six months, but when that time had passed, he tried to return, but he was sent out for three more months for failing to follow the protocol, which calls for an apology to the House.

The suspension will be reviewed by the House Committee on Rules, Ethics, and Privileges, as instructed by Speaker of the Assembly Somtochukwu Udeze on Wednesday.

During plenary, Udeze gave the committee, led by Majority Leader Ikenna Ofodeme, the urgent job of reexamining the issue in accordance with the House resolution and making a report to the Assembly on the next date of adjournment.

The Speaker stated that the committee will review the suspension and determine if the affected member complied with the measures put in place.

On the next postponed day, he said, the committee will study these and report back to the House for discussion and recommendations.

It is anticipated that Udemezue would carry out his suspension on February 26, 2026.
