Internet celebrity and businessman Isaac Fayose has questioned if the change of administration that some Nigerians are calling for can be accomplished through the electoral process, claiming that only divine intervention can change the country’s current political course.
On Sunday, Fayose responded to the results of the recent Federal Capital Territory area council elections by making the comments in a post that was posted on his official Facebook page.
In the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) council elections, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won most of the chairmanship seats.
Opposition leaders, however, claimed that violence, vote buying, and voter intimidation tainted the exercise.
Fayose responded to the news by criticizing the voting process and expressing a lack of optimism for upcoming elections.
“INEC is a breeding ground for electoral corruption and irregularities.” I scoff at any Nigerian who is fooling themselves about yesterday’s Abuja local government election,” he tweeted.
The billionaire went on to say that future national polls might reflect the results of the FCT election.
“The outcome of yesterday’s Abuja local government election will not significantly differ from the outcome of the upcoming presidential election,” he said.
He advised Nigerians who are unhappy with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to turn to spiritual guidance instead of depending only on the electoral process.
Fayose wrote, “Any Nigerian who is dissatisfied with the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led APC government should use this Lent season to seek God’s intervention for Nigeria and beg God to divinely remove APC because, as it stands today, the votes of the Nigerian electorate are incapable of terminating or dislodging them from office in 2027.”
Fayose concluded his remarks with a positive statement, despite his criticism: “It’s well with Nigeria and Nigerians.” Amen, IJN.
