State Governors were invited to a Ramadan Iftar at the State House in Abuja on Monday by President Bola Tinubu, who emphasized the importance of inclusive governance and togetherness.

To break the fast, senior government officials, governors, and deputy governors gathered for the yearly occasion.

Additionally present were cabinet ministers, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and Femi Gbajabiamila, the President’s Chief of Staff.

Tinubu spoke to the assembly and praised God for allowing them to experience another Ramadan without losing their lives.

He remarked, “Being with you again this year is a joy and a great honor.”

“The Christian fasting period coincided with the Ramadan fast,” the president said.

“Discipline, sacrifice, faith, resilience, and love for one another are what it means,” he stated.

The governors were exhorted by Tinubu to adopt inclusive leadership, unity, and tolerance.

“Let the children breathe too, in this time of solidarity, peace, and sacrifice,” he said.

He gave the governors credit for their states’ achievements.

“I’ve observed significant advancements in the United States. “I am so proud of you,” the president remarked.

They were reassured by Tinubu that the nation was conquering its economic problems.

“The dark tunnel of uncertainty is behind us. “Nigeria has the best ahead of it,” he stated.

He reaffirmed his dedication to bolstering security and advancing grassroots development.

The president called on leaders to extend opportunity to everyone and to support the oppressed.

While speaking to reporters, Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma characterized the Iftar as an interfaith event.

Christian and Muslim fasting coincides once every 33 years or so. He added, “It teaches unity.”

According to Uzodinma, the governors were collaborating with the president in good faith to advance the country.

The Iftar is a component of Tinubu’s yearly custom of welcoming political figures during the holy month of Ramadan. The APC praises the LGA congresses’ peaceful behavior in Rivers

In Rivers State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised the successful holding of its Local Government Area (LGA) Delegates Election in each of the state’s 23 LGAs.

APC candidates Hon. Ukalipke Napoleon and Hon. Mrs. Henrietta Loolo were declared the winners of the State House of Assembly bye-elections for Ahoada East Constituency II and Khana Constituency II seats on the same day, which caused the Party’s LGA Congress, which was scheduled for Monday, February 23, 2026, throughout the state, to be postponed from Saturday.

In order to strengthen the party’s internal cohesiveness and grassroots mobilization in preparation for its national convention and upcoming elections in Rivers State, the APC held an election for LGA Delegates.

Chief Tony Okocha, the state’s APC chairman, characterized the poll as calm, orderly, and transparent shortly after overseeing it in Ikwerre LGA.

Okocha gave the party’s supporters and members high marks for their dedication to internal democracy and large turnout.

The LGA Delegates Election Committee members joined the Rivers APC Chairman in expressing satisfaction with the exercise and applauding the Ikwerre leadership and members for their “orderly and peaceful” involvement.

Citing recent bye-election victories in the Federal Capital Territory, Kano, and Rivers State as proof of rising popular confidence, he assured party loyalists that the APC is still “the party to beat in Nigeria.”

“The exercise’s calm environment demonstrates our party’s resilience and preparedness for upcoming elections.”

In preparation for the next elections, Okocha stated that the successful delegate election is a critical step in strengthening the APC’s internal organizational framework.

On behalf of the chosen delegates, Samuel Nwanosike, Chairman of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), pledged continuing allegiance and dedication to the party’s goal, while the Chairman of the Congress Committee also appreciated the peaceful atmosphere.

Ikwerre LGA Executive Chairman Hon. Charles Wobodo praised the election’s openness and reiterated his dedication to the party’s advancement in the region.

According to our correspondent, the exercise was observed by members of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Additionally, security is needed to guarantee a legitimate and seamless exercise.
