Bola Ahmed Tinubu received a briefing from security chiefs on Thursday regarding the nation’s present security situation and ongoing military operations against bandits and terrorists.
The gathering, which took place in the Presidential Villa in Abuja, took place in the midst of fresh terrorist attacks in northern Nigeria, which included assaults on military installations and the deaths of numerous troops and senior commanders.
Following the private meeting, Minister of Defense Christopher Musa told State House reporters that the briefing enabled the military to give the president a current evaluation on ongoing security operations.
“The purpose of the meeting was to inform Mr. President about the current situation on the ground,” Musa stated.
“As you are aware, there have been several attacks, and the security forces have responded appropriately.”
Following allegations that terrorists believed to be affiliated with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) had escalated attacks in the northeast, a security briefing was held.
According to reports, rebel attacks in the past week have claimed the lives of multiple soldiers and at least three senior military leaders.

“We have lost several brave officers and soldiers. It’s very unfortunate,” he remarked.
However, he reassured Nigerians that the military is still dedicated to bringing stability and peace back to the nation.
“We want to reassure Nigerians of our commitment to ensure that Nigeria is safe and secure,” he declared.
The Defense Minister Additionally, employees said that President Tinubu had authorized the purchase of more equipment to bolster the battle against banditry and terrorism.
Musa stated, “Mr. President has promised more equipment so that we can effectively prosecute the war.”
In order to combat new dangers, he continued, the military had already modified its operating tactics.
Insurgents frequently step up their attacks during the holy month of Ramadan because they think their activities would bring them spiritual blessings, according to Musa.
But he claimed that in response, the military had changed their strategies and put more pressure on the rebels.
“We have taken over several locations and neutralized some of their commanders in the last few days,” he said.

Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu, Chief of Air Staff Sunday Aneke, Chief of Naval Staff Idi Abbas, Chief of Defense Intelligence Emmanuel Undiandeye, and Nuhu Ribadu were among those in attendance.
