According to Professor Ibrahim Uthman, Chief Imam of the University of Ibadan, there is no reason for any Muslim in Nigeria to disobey the orders of Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
Shortly after leading the Muslim congregation to observe the two required Rakat in honor of this year’s Eld-Fitri celebration, Uthman, a professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies, delivered this statement on Friday.
According to reports, Muslims around the world observed Eld-Fitri on Friday to commemorate the conclusion of this year’s Ramadan fast.
In his speech, Ibrahim said that the Sultan of Sokoto had brought Nigerian Muslims together and eliminated any disparities between the North and the South, particularly with regard to matters pertaining to the Ramadan fast.
“There is no reason for any Muslim in Nigeria to disobey the Sultan of Sokoto’s order,” he declared. We give thanks to God that we have a leader who has made improvements, particularly with regard to matters pertaining to the Ramadan fast.
“We used to have inconsistencies and fasted for 28 days before he arrived, but since he joined the team, everything has been in order.
“We offer prayers for all of our leaders, both governmental and religious. May God keep leading them in the correct direction. Amen.
“Allah is magnificent. He has kept His word to us. Let us keep being grateful to Allah Ta’ala. Let’s keep preaching the virtues that Allah Ta’ala has asked us to perform.
