Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, has once again commended Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, for the state’s current peace and inclusive leadership style.
During an Easter visit to the governor’s rural residence in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Akpabio made the comments. He praised Eno’s humility and dedication to promoting harmony and progress throughout the state.
The senate president observed that the governor’s leadership has been characterized by a strong sense of inclusivity and purpose, which has, in his opinion, strengthened unity among the populace.
He stressed the need for ongoing cooperation between state and federal officials while expressing happiness with the current climate of unity in Akwa Ibom.
“This visit may seem unexpected, but it is something I should do more frequently, coming to identify with my Governor, a leader who loves his people, does not discriminate, and has demonstrated clear and purposeful leadership which has ushered in peace in the state,” Akpabio stated.
He expressed hope about the state’s future under the governor’s leadership and praised his humility in governance. He added that divisive inclinations like hatred, prejudice, and discord would continue to decline.
Akpabio told the governor that he had previously worshipped and represented him at the Apostolic Church convention in Ikot Ekpene and Ikono Local Government Areas.
“I sent your message of felicitation, and they were quite happy and prayed for you that God will help you to govern the State in peace and in good health; grant you your heart’s desires and particularly, your second term successful, and we all echoed Amen,” he said. A’Ibom pays N82 billion to settle retirees’ gratuities.
When considering the significance of Easter, Akpabio expressed hope that Nigeria will overcome its present problems, including as poverty and insecurity, by pointing out that the resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolizes victory over adversity.
Eno had earlier expressed gratitude for the visit, characterizing it as meaningful and sensitive, especially in light of Easter.
He said that although he had visited the Senate President multiple times, he had not expected such a gift in return, characterizing it as an expression of true leadership and generosity.
This embodies the love, sacrifice, and resurrection that characterize Easter. We don’t take this unusual gesture for granted. The governor stated, “In Akwa Ibom, we can all sit together and continue to foster unity and mutual respect. In some States, leaders in Abuja and those in the States do not see each other and hardly interact.”
Eno hailed Akpabio for his unwavering support and fatherly wisdom, referred to him as a “political grandfather,” and promised him ongoing collaboration and prayers.
Dr. Patrick Umo, the member for the Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency, Ntiedo Usoro, the chairman of the Essien Udim Local Government Area, and Victor Antai, the executive director of the NDDC’s projects, were among those that accompanied the Senate President.
