Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court has called two important witnesses to testify in the trial of former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, who is accused of a $6.23 million fraud.
Jim Obazee and Eloho Okpoziakpo are the witnesses who are supposed to show up in court on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Emefiele on an amended 20-count charge that includes criminal breach of trust, forgery, abuse of office, and conspiracy to get money by lying.
Justice Muazu ordered the witnesses to show up in court at 9:00 a.m. on April 27, 2026, and to stay there until the case is over.
The court told them to give evidence, which included newspaper articles about the controversial Naira redesign policy.
The judge said that both witnesses were involved in investigations that led to the charges against Emefiele and that they should clear up any questions about the policy.
The case is part of ongoing legal action against the former head of the apex bank, who is accused of financial wrongdoing worth $6.23 million.
