NAWOJ Lagos Celebrates Prof. Abigail Ogwezzy as April’s Outstanding Woman

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos State Chapter, has named Professor Abigail Ndisika Ogwezzy as its Iconic Woman of the Month for April 2026.
The recognition, conferred under the association’s NAWOJ Lagos Woman of the Month initiative, is aimed at celebrating exceptional women in Lagos State who have demonstrated excellence, leadership, and meaningful contributions to societal development. The monthly honour spotlights individuals whose work promotes professional standards, integrity, and service, while empowering others.
Prof. Ogwezzy of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos, was selected in acknowledgement of her remarkable contributions to mass communication scholarship and her lasting impact on media education. Over the years, she has built a distinguished career as an academic, mentor, and thought leader, influencing generations of students, media professionals, and scholars across Nigeria.
Speaking on the recognition, NAWOJ Lagos Chairperson, Jumoke Johnson, said Prof. Ogwezzy’s dedication to academic excellence, public engagement, and advocacy has significantly strengthened the field of communication and contributed to national discourse and societal progress.
