The Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu Nigeria, AMEN, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has opened up on his past relationship with the former Anambra State governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, saying he risked a lot to support him during his impeachment ordeal.
Mbaka said this on Friday during a church programme while responding to criticisms from some supporters of Obi.
The cleric said he played a key role behind the scenes when Obi was impeached as governor of Anambra State, saying many of those who now publicly support the former governor were absent during that period.
Mbaka said he was no problem to Obi and questioned claims that he did not support him.
The cleric named a number of individuals who he said were witnesses to events surrounding Obi’s impeachment, including Chris Uba and Cletus Ibeto.
Mbaka said he acted out of his desire to serve his people, saying he sees himself as “a solution, not a problem.”
Mbaka’s words: “Listen, when Peter Obi was impeached as a governor, Peter Obi is still alive, all the midnight movement made to gather the documents to bring him back, father Mbaka!
How did I not help myself? He doesn’t regard me as a problem. If he comes to bazaar and doesn’t want to do anything, is it a problem?
“All these people crying Obi, Obi… can’t do one out of hundred of what I did for Peter Obi.
“The risk I took for him when he was impeached as a governor, 99.9 per cent of those that were following him abandoned him.
If the corpse begins to smell, we will know who loved the deceased in his lifetime.”
“Go and ask Chris Uba (Eselu), he is alive. Ibeto lives. I won’t name them all, but let me just mention a few who were in the inner room where things happened.
“People will be just talking mouth, talking what they don’t know. I mean a lot to my people.” I love my people.” “I’m a solution. Not a problem.”
