Family, friends and colleagues on Thursday received the body of late Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo in Arochukwu, Abia State ahead of his burial.
The actor’s body was said to have arrived in his home town in a convoy, and made a short stop at the palace of the Eze Arochukwu before been taken to his family compound.
Ekubo, who died May 11 at age 40, was to be buried June 18 in Arochukwu, according to funeral arrangements released earlier by his family.
Residents of the community joined Nollywood stars and other sympathisers in a procession through the village to pay tribute to the late actor.
Many of the mourners wore T-shirts with a picture of Ekubo printed on them, while others held his photographs as they paid their last respect.
Notable personalities present include his close friend IK Ogbonna, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli and Yomi Casual.
The late actor is survived by his wife, parents and siblings. He reportedly lost his life after a private fight with kidney cancer.
The burial service will be immediately followed by reception at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.
