President Bola Tinubu said his administration was laying the foundation for a new Nigeria that worked for the common good of all citizens. Tinubu said this on Tuesday while commissioning the construction of the two service carriageways of the Southern Parkway from Arterial Road S20 (Oladipo Diya Way) to Ring Road II, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

2. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Alteration) State Police Bill, 2026 to the Senate, starting what lawmakers call an epoch-making move to end decades of debate on decentralized policing in Nigeria. The first reading of the bill took place in plenary on Tuesday.

3. Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde yesterday imposed a 16-hour curfew on 10 local government areas of the state. The curfew takes effect from today, a memo issued last night by Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde said.

4. The Lagos State Police Command operatives have intercepted a truck loaded with 8,000 military camouflage uniforms, 80 cartons of suspected illicit drugs and shoes allegedly destined for the South-East. The command said on Tuesday that the operation was carried out by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in an intelligence-led operation in Epe in the early hours of Saturday.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has banned unauthorised social media activities by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, warning that such actions could undermine the Force’s integrity, professionalism and public image. The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday closed the case of the Department of State Services against the former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, paving way for the defendant to file a no-case submission in his alleged wiretapping trial. The DSS is prosecuting El-Rufai on a five-count amended charge bordering on alleged unlawful interception of communications and breach of national security.

The Inspector-General of Police, I-G, Mr Olatunji Disu, said the Nigeria Police Force would not totally accept tinted vehicles on Nigerian roads and would start enforcement against them at a later date. Disu said this on Tuesday in Abuja when a delegation of the Nigerian Bar Association led by its President, Mr Afam Osigwe, SAN, paid him a courtesy visit.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress is poised to emerge as the dominant opposition political party in the Edo State House of Assembly after defection from the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party to the party. NDC Chairman in Edo, Babatunde Olukoga, has written to the Assembly urging Speaker Blessing Agbebaku to confirm the defection of three members from their former political parties to the NDC.

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday ordered the Department of State Services, DSS to investigate the prosecution’s claim that some of the evidence it presented in court and served on the defence lawyers were displayed on the social media. Justice Abdulmalik also ordered that the DSS should investigate and bring to book any evidence on social media that contravened the court’s earlier order for witnesses’ protection.

10. The Lagos Police Command has rescued 38 foreign nationals from a possible mob attack in Epe area and has launched an investigation into alleged illegal immigration activities. This was revealed by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Tijani on Tuesday while addressing journalists at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja.
