Sam Amadi, the former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has criticized President Bola Tinubu and the Presidency over the purported fictitious Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
In a post on X on Thursday, Amadi questioned how a non-existent government body supposedly operated without being identified by the Presidency.
He contended that authorities in the Presidency should have raised concerns about the agency’s existence, accusing the government of being unaware.
“So, no one in the Presidency could ask, ‘Wait a minute, when did we form this agency?’ Tinubu represents the pinnacle of inexperience. Amadi wrote, “And many so-called technocrats and vain professors believe he should be reelected.”
His remarks came after the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, dismissed Adeyemi Adeniyi Matthew’s assertions that he had been named Director-General of a Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
The Presidency branded the council as a fictional body, and Adeyemi as an impostor facing criminal charges for forgery, impersonation, and gaining under false pretense.
According to the Presidency, security agencies’ investigations revealed that Adeyemi forged appointment documents, falsely presented himself as a government appointee, operated multiple bank accounts linked to fictitious agencies, and fraudulently opened a Central Bank of Nigeria account without receiving any government funds.
The Presidency also requested lawmakers and members of the public to desist from publicizing Adeyemi’s assertions, emphasizing that the case is still before the courts.
