President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Works, Engineer David Umahi, on his birthday, July 25, describing him as one of the best ministers in his government.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President, Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in Abuja on Saturday.
Before being appointed Minister of Works, Umahi was a Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District and served as the Governor of Ebonyi State for two consecutive terms between May 2015 and May 2023.
His administration was widely recognised for delivering transformational infrastructure across the state, the presidency said.

President Tinubu praised the minister for his steadfast dedication to building sustainable road infrastructure, referring to him as a committed public servant whose passion, diligence and patriotism consistently propel progress in the country’s road sector.
The president also urged Engineer Umahi to maintain the momentum in the construction and rehabilitation of roads, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda’s commitment to improve infrastructure, enhance economic growth, and raise the standard of living of Nigerians.
“Minister Umahi is one of my most hardworking and outstanding Ministers,” the President said. He has a great interest in his work and has kept his eye on the ball of building good roads and bridges that will stand the test of time.
“Rather than depending on reports, he is always on the project sites across the country, inspecting construction works to ensure strict compliance with approved standards and specifications.
President Tinubu extended felicitations to the minister’s family, friends, and associates on the occasion and prayed for his continued good health, strength and wisdom as he continues to serve the nation.
