Anambra: NSCDC Tasks Road Transport Employers Association Of Nigeria ( RTEAN) On Safety In Parks.

Mr. Isidore C. Chikere , the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command has called on Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria( RTEAN) to align their activities towards enhancement of safety in transportation sector on major highways and parks across the State.

He made the call in Awka when he played host to the Executive Members of the Association on a courtesy visit at the State Command Headquarters Awka.
Mr. Chikere while commending the association for such thoughtful idea of seeking for collaboration with the NSCDC promised to work with the body to ensure the security of lives and property of entire road users. He urged RTEAN leadership to sensitize their members against indulging in neferious activities that threaten the security of the state to avoid being caught with the laws .

” I am appealing to you to sensitize your members on the need to be law abiding and be security concious to ease people’s movement in the state. NSCDC and other sister security agencies will continue to protect road users in search of their daily livelihood. What is required of you and your members is to be security concious and vigilant so as to detect suspicious movements and alert the relevant security agencies especially in all your parks. Moreso I want you to furnish us with relevant, timely and credible intelligence to nib crime at the bud he said.

Earlier the State Chairman of the RTEAN , Mr.Okonkwo Williams Chukwuka who rated the NSCDC as a major stakeholders in crime management and prevention said the visit would foster more unity among management and staff of the RTEAN and NSCDC.

The Chairman who emphasized the commitment of RTEAN towards maintaining peace and security among the members of the Union and in the State at-large, promised that RTEAN would continue to do its best to maintain peace in Anambra State. He solicited for NSCDC’s assistance in training RTEAN road marshals in their parks.

Mr. Okonkwo who described RTEAN members as peace loving people , assured the State Commandant of RTEAN support in the realization of Corps mandate.

He noted that there was need for understanding between the union and security agencies on possible deployment of security agents to various motor parks across the State to check crimes.
