Zamfara PDP For Fresh Governorship Primary Happening Today After Court Sacked Candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party in Zamfara State has fixed Friday (tomorrow) for the rerun of governorship primary in the state in line with a court ruling.
A Federal High Court sitting last week in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, nullified the PDP primary election that brought in Dauda Lawan Dare as its governorship candidate for the 2023 general elections.
Justice Aminu Bappa who gave the ruling last had explained that the court granted all the prayers of the plaintiffs and cancelled the election of Dauda Lawan Dare as the party’s governorship candidate.
A former federal lawmaker Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Gusau, had asked the court to nullify the election which he said was highly characterized by gross irregularities.

The state chairman of the party, Alhaji Ahmad Sani Kaura, said preparations were on top gear for the peaceful conduct of the primary election in the state, adding that there would be a level playing ground for all contestants.
“The Peoples Democratic Party is a law- abiding entity and we are complying with the court order to conduct a fresh primary election. The contestants remain the same, Alhaji Dauda Lawal Dare, Ibrahim Shehu Gusau, Wadatau Madawaki and Hafiz Nahuche.
“The national headquarters of our party has scheduled the rerun to hold on 23 September 2022. Officials from the headquarters are coming to Gusau to conduct a peaceful and acceptable election.
“As I’m talking to you, congresses are being held in wards to ensure gender compliance because part of what court said was that women were excluded from the delegate list. We are including them now.”
