Human Rights Day: AMPEF, Child Advocates Sensitizes Children And Parents On Fundamental Human Rights.

…… Honors Uniformed Personnel, Journalists, Legal Practitioner.

Ambassadors For Peace And Enlightenment Foundation( AMPEF) in its capacity created a program to celebrate ‘The International Human Rights Day’ with children, parents and the police to commemorate an era of “SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING” as well as a campaign for” THE POLICE IS YOUR FRIEND” on 10th Dec.,2022.


AMPEF is a Human Rights Group dedicated to the course of being the voice of the voiceless in the society where injustice is at play and as such, created an event to sensitize children and parents on the “Rights of a Child”, “The Rights Of the People”. Children are noted as the vulnerable that needs to be aware of their immediate environment, have confidence in the justice system and be educated about some areas of concerns while the people mainly adults needs to understand civil rights and responsibilities as well as shun intimidation in the course for justice.

In attendance are Royal fathers, VIPs, Police Officers, ACVPN Sensitizers and the press and members of the public namely: Eze Chika Nwokedi, The Ezendigbo of Ijegun/Ijeododo, SP Oyewole and officers of the division, the popular comedian Ajirebi kayode Olaseyinde” Pa James” of Papa Ajasco, Apostle Timgbasa, Comr. Ikechukwu amongst other dignitaries and attendees.

Earlier on, the group hosted a campaign meeting at the Isheri Police Division in Lagos with the Title ” THE POLICE IS YOUR FRIEND”to further enhance community policing. This meeting was solely created to bond more with the police to curb crime and criminality, thereby getting justice for the voiceless. It is stated that community policing all around nigeria has helped in the reduction of security challenges that poses threat to the lives and free movement of the people, therefore the people needs to know that the police is assessible to a formal report of irregularities,not to be seen as unapproachable when a crime is to be reported. This welcome development had led human rights group and individuals to relate more freely with the police to solve issues arising from insecurity and criminality, violence and injustice.

AMPEF Also seized the opportunity accorded for a host meeting to also honor some officers whom have overtime supported the course of justice accurately while officially discharging duties.
The names of the awardees are:
Insp. Oyeyemi Amoo, Head of Gender Unit Igando division, Insp. Ojomo Samuel of Isheri Division ,Insp. Chukwuyem Josephine of Isheri Division, Insp. Fagbenro Elizabeth of Isheri Division.
They were awarded in recognition of an unwavering support, outstanding performance, effective service delivery through professional capability in safeguarding lives and property, justice, equity and peace making in national developmental projects. The honors was presented by AMPEF on 10th, Dec. 2022.

The Royal father present, Eze Chika Nwokedi, the Ezendigbo of Ijegun/Ijeododo also addressed the awardees, he told them to keep up the good work, the police is a friend to all, and should be appreciated for a work well done. He also promised to further host and appreciate the awarded officers with his usual magnanimous doings.

The DPO of the Isheri division also commended the officers awarded in recognition of the honors presented to deserving officers as well as urged them to keep soaring in the job by keeping up with delegated duties diligently, you can never know who and who is observing, he said.

Comrade Ikechukwu also advised the police awardees to be courageous in all they do as evil is multiplying by the day, every good you do someone somewhere is watching you, he said. He congratulated and gifted the officers in complimentary of the honors given.

During the sensitisation session of the programmed event to celebrate The International Human Rights Day, Speakers of various capacities mounted the podium to address issues arising in the home, complaints of molestation, the child’s right, the rights of the people both the Male and female gender” IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING”.

The first speaker, Insp. Amoo Oyeyemi emphasized on Sexual and gender based violence (domestic violence) the need for a formal report when issues of detrimental concerns arises in the home, such matters should be reported without further delay neither should victims give in to intimidation of any sort.. Matters reported will be treated keenly to see that justice is served. She also mentioned that children should report any form of molestation or sexual harassment or unwelcome advances immediately. Also she advised women and men who suffers domestic violence but is silent about it due to fear or intimidation to make a report as law will take its course.

Mr. Neye and Mrs Adeneye Blessing from ACVPN Also emphasized on “The rights of a child” during an interactive session with the attendees of the program which includes , children, women and men of various backgrounds and races. She sensitized the audience on the various diseases contacted through some awkward sexual activities engaged by individuals, the need for children not to engage in practices that can lead to these diseases, the need to report any form of molestation or sexual harassment, how to identify predators as well as reporting an act of forceful penetration” Rape”, the need to know that there is a law which protects the children under the age of 18, a law that prevents victimisation, abuse, any one who wants to take advantage. Such laws should be fully implemented. More also, she recounted the responsibilities of a child to parents and of parents to the child.

There was also an award presentation to media personalties who have been very supportive in countering injustice in the course of giving a voice to the voiceless in collaboration with the essence of AMPEF, a body of Human Rights Activist whose aim is make sure justice is served to airing perpetrators. Those awarded includes: Onome Naomi Onojaefe, Publisher of Naomi Sophy Blog, Ifeoma Ikem Crime Editor of Sahara Reports Weekly, Claver Publisher of The Claver Magazine and a Legal practitioner. These individuals were awarded in recognition of their passionate professional capability, outstanding performance and effective service delivery to the humanitarian community and National development project. The National President of AMPEF, Comr. Prince Saviour Iche told the press present during an interview about his intentions and activities so far for AMPEF. He said the Human Rights group is dedicated to also appreciating sister bodies like the police who is also dedicated to combating crime and injustice in the society, a reason he seems it fit to also honor deserving officers.

Furthermore, Iche said the Child’s Right Awarness organised by ÀMPEF is a welcomed development towards sensitising the children and parents on their fundamental rights for law and order to abide while hoping for a replication of this knowledge by attendees of the program to families and friends. Prior to this time, AMPEF has flyers and stickers of numbers the people can call in distress, also The Lagos state ministry of Education has been written in respect of the creation of awareness to be extended to the book and crannies of the land by ways of sensitisation. The aim of the sensitisation is to educate individuals of their fundamental human rights respectively through the purpose of a reach out.

The program will be extended beyond Alimosho region in time to come with the support of the government for a more elaborate awareness campaign, Comr. Iche said.
