Former President of the Performing Musicians’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy has expressed displeasure over the ongoing spat between Peter and Paul of P Square fame.

Recall last week that Paul in an interview with City FM presenter Paul hinted that there may be more problems brewing between him and his twin brother Peter when he recalled an incident which happened earlier this year involving his brothers.

He said that some months back, he was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over a petition written against me and my elder brother.

Paul said; “Something happened this year. I was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over a petition written against me and my elder brother.

“When I got there, I asked them what happened. They had already printed out the statement of my (bank) account, and they started an investigation. However, one month ago, they called us and our elder brother and declared us innocent.

“The only difference was our lifestyle. He took us back to a bank statement of 2007 over a $200,000 credit (I got), though we traced part of the funds to a vehicle he bought. After the truth came out that I was innocent, he still did not apologise.

“I am not speaking up, because I want to bring anybody down. He accused me of selling our (music) catalogue; the same catalogue I wrote 99 percent of. For now, I just want to continue my thing.”

While reacting to the remarks made by his brother in an open letter posted on his Instagram page on Monday, Peter said that he is not in competition with his brother or anybody else.

He stated that he has been seeing the interviews granted by Paul in which he constantly discredited his (Peter’s) efforts in the group that they both created and built together.

‘‘In your recent interviews, you claimed you wrote and sang 99% of all P Square songs and discredited me by saying that our song with TI ‘Ejeajo,’ which I wrote, was a failure. You went as far as using the YouTube views to discredit me again.

‘‘You never acknowledged the other songs like: ‘Get Squared’, ‘Busy Body’, ‘Personally’, ‘Roll It’, ‘Temptation, ‘Alingo’, ‘More Than A Friend’, ‘Shekini’, ‘Say Your Love’, ‘Gimme Dat’, ‘Senorita’, ‘Igbedu’ and a few others. Were these songs considered failures?’’ Paul wrote in part.

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, Charly Boy addressed the matter on his Instagram page, expressing his displeasure with the twin brothers’ handling of their problems. He added that it was his intention for them to support and rely on one another.

“Peter and Paul, pls, like dis no just good at all.” Charly Boy wrote, “I publicly don’t get involved in people’s wahala even if I have all the facts. You guys should be able at your age to lean on one another, never to be seen as up in arms against one another. If you have a twin by your side, you are indeed fortunate, because twins, whether fraternal or identical, are lucky to have one another.”

He went on to say that the two are far too grown up and professional to be fighting back and forth in small arguments based on sibling rivalry. He also emphasized that, as twins, they should cherish their relationship and that they should resolve their differences amicably and discreetly.

“As twins, you guys must watch yourself live two lives. One for him and one for yourself. Biko, stop coming to the public and exposing what I believe you guys can solve in the privacy of your homes. As a huge fan, you guys are not twinning, I am not happy,” Charly Boy concluded.
