The lawmaker representing Sabon Birni North Constituency in the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Aminu Boza, has denied allegations linking him to the recent abduction and murder of the District Head of Gatawa, Isa Bawa.
Bawa was kidnapped alongside his son at the Kwanar Maharba area in Sokoto on July 26 and killed by his abductors more than three weeks later after a video emerged where he appealed to the government to come to his aid.
Shortly after the killing of the monarch, Boza was accused by Bawa’s son of being involved in the plot to abduct and kill his father by supplying the bandits with the location of the monarch as well as supplying the bandits with the ammunition.
Bawa’s son had, in a video recorded from his hospital bed, claimed that the bandits who abducted and murdered his father confessed that Boza provided them with vital information and paid them N5 million to carry out the kidnapping.
According to the son, the bandits also claimed that Boza supplied them with weapons during the campaign period.
“The bandits told me directly that Aminu Boza was the one who gave them the guns to kidnap us,” the son had alleged.

“They said they received the weapons during the campaign period and explained that although they did not know my father, they were paid N5 million to abduct him.”
But in a statement issued on Sunday and made available to journalists, Boza debunked the allegations, describing them as attempts to tarnish his image, while rejecting any claims of criminal activity or associations with bandits in the region.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the ongoing fight against banditry and expressed his dedication to restoring peace in the community.
“I want to make it clear to the whole world that these allegations will never deter me from fighting against banditry. As I have always said, we need to unite and eliminate these bandits to achieve lasting peace,” the lawmaker said.
“I understand that fighting the bandits will not be easy, but if it costs my life, I will be at peace knowing I did everything to satisfy my conscience.
“I would be proud to die fighting these bandits if it means we can rid our community of them and restore peace,” he added.
