Lafogido Heritage Foundation of the Lafogido ruling dynasty, Ile-Ife, on Friday, donated communication gadgets, including a refurbished security office, to a vigilante group to tackle insecurities and other nefarious activities in the town.
Speaking while donating the items, the President of Lafogido Heritage Foundation, Prince Adeyemi Ademiluyi, said the foundation took the step to battle criminal activities and checkmate unwanted attitudes in society.
He argued that all necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure solidified security architectures that would serve as guards and protections to all and sundry.
Apart from these, the president added, the provision of adequate security would attract the presence of tourists in the town.
According to him, the Lafogido ruling dynasty has belled the cart in providing leadership in the area of galvanizing security and economic awareness for the ancient town.
“Our decision to extend this support to the local security outfit is because of their proximity to the people. They know every corner of the community and understand the people, as well as their thinking.
Lafogido ruling dynasty, however, charged other ruling houses to collaborate with every stakeholder in the town to take Ile-Ife to its pride of place globally, being the cradle of the Yoruba race.
” The race ought to be a rallying point for the over 40 million Yoruba people across the world, but security is germane to attracting the willing tourists globally”, he stressed.
In its appreciation, OSUN state police command, a harmonized vigilante group, Ile- Ife Chapter, Under the presidency, Alhaji Isah Akorede, thanked Lafogido HeritageFoundation-Lafogide Ruling House for re-commissioning OSPCHVG Ife chapter Edena Office.
Alhaji Akorede said, “We specially thank you, Lafogido Heritage Foundation, for genuinely and sincerely renovating the OSPCHVG Edena Office to International Standard.
“As we all know, the Security business belongs to all and sundry to reduce the atrocities of hoodlums so that there is an atmosphere of peace and harmony in Ile-Ife and its environment.
“The OSPCHVC, Ile Ife Chapter came up around 2004 when the hoodlums, robbers, etc. took life for granted to perpetrate evil acts, raping girls/older women, robbing, molesting, harassing.
“We members quickly came to roundtable to salvage lle-Ife and its environment from these nefarious deeds,” he submitted.
