Nigeria’s passport is ranked 183rd out of 200 countries in the Henley Passport Index, making it one of the least powerful passports in the world in 2025, according to a recent analysis.
The index emphasizes Nigeria’s ongoing difficulties with international movement by rating passports according to the number of places their holders can visit without a visa.
As has been the case for years, the Nigerian passport now only permits visa-free travel to a small handful of countries, placing it in the bottom 18 worldwide.
Singapore, on the other hand, has regained its position as the most powerful passport in the world, providing visa-free entry to 195 countries.
Several European nations, including France, Germany, and Italy, achieved third place with visa-free access to 192 locations, while Japan came in second with access to 193 destinations.

Afghanistan continues to be at the bottom of the rankings, with the least amount of freedom to travel for its population.
Nonetheless, Nigeria’s ranking of 183rd highlights the difficulties experienced by Nigerians who want to tour the world and continues to restrict their travel options.
A widening gap in international mobility was also noted by the Henley Passport Index, which showed that diplomatic initiatives have caused nations like the United Arab Emirates to rise quickly in the rankings.
For many Nigerians, the ideal of traveling without a visa continues to be unattainable as the world travel scene changes.
