The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has commended Governor Umo Eno for the accomplishment of the civil officials’ physical verification process, which has so far identified more than 2,000 ghost workers.
Comrade Alpha Marshall, the NLC State Secretary, made this revelation in an interview on Tuesday’s “The Talk,” a Super Breakfast Show on XL106.9FM.
Approximately 51,700 civil servants have been confirmed out of the 55,120 that were registered prior to the process, according to Comrade Marshall.
He added that the verification report is presently prepared for delivery to the governor and characterized the procedure as smooth and open.
In reference to federal servants who have not yet been confirmed because of things like incorrect information on their National Identification Number (NIN), Marshall stated that plans are underway to reschedule the process.
He made it clear that Governor Eno would not be delayed in receiving the verification report.

Along with praising Governor Eno for keeping his word, the NLC Secretary conveyed optimism that the reviewed report will clear the path for the implementation of the new minimum wage.
Following the conclusion of the physical verification process, Governor Eno had previously promised to begin paying all public employees in the state a minimum wage of N80,000 in November 2024.
