Adams Oshiomhole has been criticized by Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor, a former Edo State Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science, and Technology, for failing to curb illicit mining operations in his jurisdiction.
According to a source, the former governor of Edo claimed that retired generals were responsible for the illegal mining operations that were impoverishing the country and harming the environment.
In spite of being a former governor and present senator, Isibor charged Oshiomhole with ignoring the illicit gold mining operations “in his backyard.”
In his residence, the former governor Godwin Obaseki’s commissioner suggested that the Senate Committee on Interior’s chairman take action against illicit gold mining.
On Wednesday, Ifaluyi-Isibor posted on his X handle: “I find it hard to listen to him objectively. Even when he seems to be speaking honestly, there’s always a catch. Over the years, it has been demonstrated that he is unstable, distorted, and contradictory.
His beautiful speech (which I commend him for) is quickly forgotten, as are the standards he set yesterday. He is also fast to mumble and juggle words loudly in an attempt to fascinate and mesmerize people, but his main goal is deceit.

Sen. Adams Oshiomole should be made aware that illicit gold and other natural resource mining is occurring in his own “backyard,” even though I share some of his concerns.
“Is he unable to inform the world that he is unaware of it, or are others not profiting from it as well?
Who directly benefits from Edo North’s current illegal gold mining?
To put it another way, who will I ask?
