Evans, also known as Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, a convicted kidnap kingpin, has begged for forgiveness from the Lagos State Government, saying he has changed his ways.
Evans said he has turned from his previous offenses and is now concentrating on rehabilitation while speaking through his attorney, Emefo Etudo, in the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
He entered the plea while he and his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, were re-arraigned on a five-count amended charge that included attempted murder, murder, and abduction conspiracy. Both entered not guilty pleas.
Evans’ attorney disclosed that his client had requested leniency from the Lagos State Government and submitted an application for a plea deal.
“The plea deal that we have offered the state government is the main focus of this case. My client has changed his ways. He is now repentant, but as a young guy, he was consumed by crime.
He is currently enrolled in the National Open University of Nigeria at the 200-level. Thanks to a Federal Government scholarship, he actually received A1 grades on all of his NECO papers while incarcerated,” Etudo informed the judge.
Evans wants to utilize his experience to discourage young people from committing crimes, he added, suggesting that he visit schools in Lagos to teach young people about the negative effects of illegal activity.

Sule Yusuf, the state prosecutor, acknowledged receipt of the plea bargain application and said it was being reviewed.
After the court hearing, Etudo told reporters that the Federal Government and the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) had worked to bring about Evans’ amazing rehabilitation.
“My client has changed since then. The RCCG and the Federal Government, which gave him a scholarship to study and improve himself, have enabled his metamorphosis,” he stated.
