Adekunle Gold, a Nigerian Afrobeats singer, has expressed concern over the present trajectory in Nigeria’s music industry.
According to reports, the ‘Orente’ singer remarked in a post on Saturday via his X handle that the music industry is being run by the wrong people who are uninterested in music and are killing it.
He believes that musicians, producers, and other creatives are overwhelmed by people who do not create, understand, or respect the music industry.
Adekunle emphasized that the wrong people dominate the debate, spreading misinformation about the profession, which is why potential is neglected and mediocrity thrives.
He wrote, “People who have no business leading music conversations now control and destroy the industry.”
“Artists, producers, and true contributors are being eclipsed by those who don’t create, understand, or respect the profession.

“When the incorrect people take the lead in a conversation, they promote false narratives. That is why genuine talent is ignored, while mediocrity thrives. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Meanwhile, Adekunle Gold has confessed his sole difficulty.
The Afropop musician recently revealed that Manchester United is the sole concern in his life.
Everything else is blooming and going well, except for the fact that he is a fan of the faltering Premier League club.
Gold mentioned this in a video message posted to social media by his wife, musician Simi.
